A. What’s the solution ?

Your friend has a toocthache. He is not telling anyone because he is afraid of the dentist. But, it is necessary for him to go to the dentist.

Ans. We  should inform him that he will benefit by treatment from the dentist. If the treatment is not taken he will suffer from severe pain and it may further result in tooth decay and bad breath. Also if not immediately taken care it may also result in oozing of gums and pus formation which may enter the stomach and cause diseases. Hence to avoid trouble and get cured early it is necessary for him to go to the dentist.

B. Think and tell.

1.) Which is the best way to brush your teeth ? Why ?

Ans. Brushing our teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste is the best way to brush our teeth. The brush takes out the food particles stuck between our teeth and the foam of the toothpaste helps the food particles to loose and get washed away.

2.) Why should we not allow nails to grow ?

Ans. If nails are grown, the dirt and mud remains inside the nails. This dirt and mud enters our mouth when we eat with hands. From the mouth it passes on to the stomach. This can cause a stomach upset and also a number of diseases. Hence we should not allow our nails to grow.

3.) Why must we wash the grapes we buy from the market before eating them ?

Ans. The grapes we buy from the market are not always covered and have dirt and dust on them. Also the farmers growing grapes spray pesticides on them to kill the pests. This pesticide is harmful for humans and cause poisoning if we eat the grapes without washing. As washing removes the dirt, dust and the pesticides, it is necessary to wash grapes before eating them.

4.) It is more important to brush your teeth before going to bed at night than to brush them in the morning. Why is that so ?

Ans. We eat several times as day. The food particles can remain stuck in the gaps between the teeth. If not cleaned before going to bed these food particles start to rot and cause tooth decay and bad breath. Hence it is more important to brush your teeth before going to bed at night.

5.) Why is it a custom to wash one’s feet and hands on coming back home ?

Ans. When we are away from home, all day while playing or walking our hands and feet become dirty. If we do not wash them the dirt from the hands may get into our stomach and cause diseases. Hence to keep ourselves clean we should wash our feet and hands on coming back home.

1.) Why do our gums get affected ?

Ans. When we do not rinse our mouth after eating something, the food particles remain in the mouth. They stick to our teeth and tongue and get stuck in between the teeth. If they remain there the teeth begin to rot and we get bad breath and due to this the gums also get affected.

2.) Why must we was our hands before having a meal ?

Ans. All day, while playing or working, our hands become dirty. If we eat with unclean hands, the dirt on the hands goes into our stomach and we can get a stomach upset, hence we must wash our hands before we eat.

3.) What are the benefits of using a brush and toothpaste for cleaning one’s teeth ?

Ans. Using a brush and a toothpaste, we can clean the gaps between the teeth properly. Also the foam of the toothpaste helps the particles stuck between teeth to come loose and get washed away. This will stop the rotting of teeth and bad breath.

4.) What will happen if we do not keep ourselves clean ?

Ans. If we do not keep ourselves clean we may contract different diseases.

5.) Why do we fall ill if our teeth are not clean ?

Ans. If our teeth are not clean it causes the teeth to rot and we get bad breath. If this happens often the gums are also affected. They may ooze blood and pus. These foul substances go into our stomach and we can fall ill.
